The Best Advice From The Women In My Life

Life Advice

Hi Friends!

March is a special month between all the birthdays including mine and the best women’s conference happening at my church I didn’t want this month to pass without a very special post to honor the women in my life. March 8th happens to be international women’s day and my birthday. In Brazil, where my family is from, it is celebrated so much more than here but regardless I want to honor this month where we celebrate being women but the Bible way. In a world where women are told to be like men or that men are women I want to celebrate the God given femininity that we have and the power that is being a Biblical woman! I am incredibly grateful to the women who have imparted to my life from my mom, pastors, bosses, friends, all of them have taught me more than I could imagine.

Titus 2:3-5

3 Bid the older women similarly to be reverent and devout in their deportment as becomes those engaged in sacred service, not slanderers or slaves to drink. They are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble, 4 So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind (temperate, disciplined) and to love their husbands and their children, 5 To be self-controlled, chaste, homemakers, good-natured (kindhearted), adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach (blasphemed or discredited).

#1: Be Strong Like Steel, Graceful Like A Swan

This one is from my very own mother, Cassia. She is one of the most inspiring and selfless people I know. She has devoted her life to the Lord and our family. The one thing she always told me in high school was to be strong like steel, graceful like a swan. When she told me this I had to learn she really meant to have me guard my heart but to always treat people with grace. Nobody’s perfect but my mom is one of the greatest examples in my life. Truly one of the strongest people I know and very gracious. I’ve never seen someone forgive like her or my dad do and I’m grateful for that example eternally.

#2: Friendship Last When You All Stay In The Perfect Will of God

A sweet mentor I have known and worked for in the past told me one day that my friendships would last as long as we all served the Lord and stayed in the perfect will of God. She has these long standing friendships from when she was in bible college. All her friends live near and far but they all keep in touch. Being someone who also has friends all over the country and other countries it was encouraging. All the friendships I’ve sustained even from child have only stood the test of time because of serving the Lord. When you can run the race with the people around you it’ll be long lasting because you are all going for the same thing which is maximum impact for the Lord!

#3: Saying No Is Okay

I feel like sometimes the pressure of being a woman can be tough when it comes to putting a stop to something or a boundary in place. Sometimes we can overthink what others may think of ourselves and if we’ve offended someone much quicker than men would. But truly, just like any other man it’s okay to say no and if people have an issue with it that’s on them. My best friend models this best and I am still learning to say no but when properly used it’s liberating for sure. When you serve the Lord, only His thoughts towards you and what you say or do matter.

#4: Marriage and Motherhood is Not the End of Your Life

Clearly I haven’t experienced marriage or motherhood yet in this life but this is less advice per say but what I’ve learned by watching the women in my life. Growing up and even throughout my early adulthood it was easy to feel like marriage and motherhood would be the end of independence (which it is) and the world around but actually it is the most beautiful thing. God made us to multiply and wired us women to love and nurture in such a special way by enabling us to be wives and moms someday and some of you already might be there. Marriage and motherhood actually exemplifies the word whether it’s the bride of Christ or how much the Lord loves us as a father. In a world where the world tells us the lie that it is the worst thing you could do, don’t listen and if you had a terrible example growing up that doesn’t have to be your portion either. You can have marriage and be a mom like the Word has modeled it to be!

Here’s to Womanhood!

Being a woman is not a mistake and it takes the Holy Ghost and great ladies to look up to, to become the woman the Lord has called each of us to be. We are influential, beautiful, and powerful. Take time to thank the women in your life for teaching you the ropes. The Lord chose you to be a great woman of God so keep flourishing!

Till next time,

Keziah-Grace

Thank you to my mom, she raised me loving the Lord so much I didn’t know she wasn’t saved her whole life until two years ago. Talk about a life lived above reproach. She is my greatest inspiration of all the women in my life.
